I do prefer reading graphic novel since it is easier to understand what the author is trying to present. I enjoy the interactions between the characters and having the ability to see what they look like helps me to understand the characteristics of these characters better.

I like reading graphic novels more because it is easier to understand what you are reading if you have pictures. When I just read regular books it is hard for me to really understand what is going on because it just a block of words but with graphic novels it helps to see pictures.

I agree with you Deyonche, I like reading books with pictures and less writing in a page because it makes me overwhelmed. When I read nonfiction or fiction novels, I tend to think about something else when I’m reading, which makes me go back about 100 times to read it again.

Before now and reading Maus I never actually read comic books. I would always see them and I even made one for biology class but reading them was never an interest to me. I would prefer to read nonfiction or fiction novels rather an comic book because they are more easy to read and understand. I personally feel like for Maus specifically when first reading it was starting it that I didn’t know which direction to really read in what I mean by that is up and down or from left to right. I feel like with an actual novel it’s easy for me to understand more because it’s mainly just words and no pictures and I can actually follow along. Even though some might say that comic books are easier to read I feel like that’s true but I don’t get it because it’s not straight dialogue. I also feel like being that Maus is about the holocaust that it being presented through mice I don’t think that a comic book really got the point across because the topic is so serious.

I completely agree with you Diamond. I had trouble knowing what direction I had to read the book in. I don't normally read graphic novels, I think it is easier to read the regular novels because it doesn't have many pictures. I also enjoy imagining what I am reading but if I read graphic novels then I am limited to what I am imagining.

I didn't particularly read graphic novels like that. It would usually be once and a while. I originally thought that Maus I and II was fiction novels, not a graphic novel. I would usually see people that are really smart and that like easy reading books reading graphic novels. But this time, this graphic novel is different than others mainly because it's because of something that already happened.

I like both books and graphic novels, but I prefer graphic novels to books. It on a matter of art style. Books that I have read usually consist of the same style of writing style though the years. Graphic novels, however, usually have different art styles. Stories like Superman:Red Son and Jojo's Bizarre Adventure have two different styles and that's what makes it interesting. The styles on how characters are drawn fascinate me and put me in awe

I personally prefer graphic novels because the visuals make it more enjoyable to read and memorise. Details such as descriptions of bunkers and maps were easier to understand in a graphic novels. The art also enables the author to be more flexible with how they produce and present their work, showing more of their personality through the story than traditional novels.

I have honestly never liked graphic novels since I felt that it has always been a sort of thing for kids instead of teens or young adults. I always prefer Fiction novels since I love to create an image with what is going on in the story. Brings more imagination to life with a lot of other details to it. I especially love to read long fiction novels since it feels that the story gets better and better the more I read it.

I read comics every now and then. And yes I do like reading graphic novels and it makes it less challenging and more interesting to people that don’t normally read or like to read. The pictures make it stand out and give you something to picture and it’s less words.

Although graphic novels top have pictures so it is easier to understand, it takes away that imagination of a nonfiction or fiction novel. The words in those books let you think but at the same time understand, to me they have more meaning rather than words and pictures. But graphic novels are fun to read, easier, and the art can be really good. So I like reading graphic novels more.

Well I usually never read comic books just because I’m not so into them. I think it is more easier to read because they’re aren’t chapter books and they have more pictures so it’s easier to stay focus for me. Also since it does has picture it’s easier to see what’s going on in the book rather than chapter books that hardly ever have pictures and you have to imagine what’s going on in the story.

I sometimes read graphic novels of novels. They re-tell or tell a different story with the same characters. I enjoy these type of stories because you get to actually see these characters and how they react in the world.

Honestly, I prefer graphic novels because they portrayed exactly what the author of the book wants you to see. It’s like you are in the mind of the author and it is set up exactly how they see it. It’s like you and the author are sharing the same experience. Yes it is nice to imagine the book on your own but personally enjoy seeing what the author sees.

I think I enjoy reading graphic novels more. The pictures make for an easy and fast read and you can still get the genuine story through it. Fiction and non-fiction novels are good if you can picture the story in your mind. I think having the pictures helps the reader set themselves into the story as well.

I like both, but I do like fiction novels a bit more. I am able to imagine the settings and characters on my own. I also find myself lost more in fiction novels and since I get to imagine all of the characters in my mind I usually end up forgetting that I’m reading a book and think lI was watching a show or movie the next time ai try to pick up the book again. Graphic novels just don’t have that type of impact on me.

I did enjoy this graphic novel a lot just because it really made me think and feel what was happening during the holocaust which I really enjoyed. I have to say though I do not see myself reading another graphic novel if it wasn't school related. I am more interested in reading history or even romance novels.

I think graphic novels can be more interesting than other types of novels. The pictures can get the reader excited and more engaged. They can motivate the reader to find out what happens next because there is no page that is the same. Drawings can enhance the way a story is told.

Actually, I like both graphic novels and nonfiction and fiction novels because the graphic novels greatly increases the vividness of the novel, and it passes the idea or thoughts of the authors more directly, the expression of image is more intuitive than that of text. But it makes the reader have less chance to expend their thinking than the people who reading the nonfiction or fiction novels. Sometimes when the author doesn't want readers to have a different thoughts with his points,. However, just like Shakespeare says “There are a thousand Hamlets in a thousand people's eyes", we can see different points of view by reading the same nonfiction or fiction novels. Thus, I like both kinds of novels.

I like reading graphic novels more because the pictures help me visualize the description in my head. I've always had a hard time with visualization no matter how detailed the description, and graphic novels make this easier for me. On top of that with graphic novels the pictures make things more interesting and make you use your metacognition.

I prefer graphic novels. Although it can reduce your imagination, I think it helps more by showing us what exactly we are reading. It’s almost like double the information. In this case, I feel like the pictures help because it shows the atrocities that the Germans committed to these people and it spreads the awareness of the holocaust.

I enjoy both graphic novels and regular novels, but if I had to choose I would choose regular novels. I love the artwork In graphic novels, but I find the artist's style tends to ruin the image I have in my head. This is not the case with regular novels as I am free to picture the story however I see fit. If Mause I and lI were to have been regular novels than I would have been free to imagine their looks however I saw fit, but given that these books are graphic I'm stuck with the artist's vision. Overall I think regular novels give the reader more of an opportunity for interpretation, so therefore regular novels are superior.

Thats a big yes for me as you will know im a H U G E fan of comics/graphic novels. I like the the illistations and the look of them and its much easier to read for me personally. I dont just read just any old comics but i read comics that have an over arching story. Drawings can convey a serious tone; it dose not take away from the seriousness just because it is drawn(depending on the artist and how they do it) so yes i do favor graphic novels over regular novels.

I really did like the book Maus, and I thought that it was interesting to see Art's prospective while listening to his fathers stories. However, I think that this story would be just as interesting if there were no pictures at all. When books rely on imagery to make a reader feel involved, the reader uses their brain to imagine what the setting of the book looks like, and when there is a graphic novel there is no need to use imagination, which I think takes a little bit of the joy from reading.

I actually do enjoy graphic novels more then non-fiction or fiction because it adds more to the story like it gives you a small picture as the what is happening and how the characters look. And in like non-fiction and fiction book you have to go off from how the authors describes the characters and in graphic novels I feel you can enjoy the story and book overall more because not much thought goes into wanting to know what the characters look like.

I always found graphic novels very amusing because I’m not an imaginary person. In order to picture something I need pictures. Literally. So I found them easy to understand but also cool to enjoy. You get like the full effect on what’s happening. I feel like fiction and graphic novels will always be enjoyable just because theres more fantasy and imagination in it. As in nonfiction Its just real life things.

I like to all types of books, but if I did have to choose I'd go with a graphic novel. My reasons are, it adds more depth to the book, as mentioned by my fellow classmates it is nice to have a visual representation of what is happening in the story. Your brain understands and processes the book easier rather then reading a page various times to try to understand it.
