I think the Jews were portrayed as mice and not humans because the Nazis were strong and the Jews were weak. Mice are tiny weak and are afraid of Cats just like how the Jews were afraid of the Nazis. Mice are usually large in numbers but aren't very dangerous much like the Jews.

Portraying the Jews as mice shows them as inferior. As humans when we see animals like mice,we think of them as rodents and something to be exterminated. Which is how the Nazis felt about Jews. They thought that they were rodents and they need to be exterminated.

I think that the way characters are portrayed as animals, is due to how society portrayed different cultures/religions at the time. Hitler was able to convince others that Jewish Germans were a separate race from the rest of Germany. People saw the Jews as inferior, Just as mice are inferior to cats. And just like mice, Jewish people had become the prey.

If I’m being honest I don’t see why they were portrayed as mice instead of humans because. To take a guess it would be because of the Jews were mice and nazis were cats because the nazis were killing Jew as cats kill mice. Also it could be that when mice are spotted they usually run and that’s what the Jews were doing.

The Jews were portrayed as Mice instead of humans because the Nazis thought of them being as the lowest there is. It symbolizes how much value the Jews had instead of everyone else.

Jews were portrayed as mice because they had to hide from the Nazi Party, which was portrayed as cats. The Nazis preyed on Jews as cats prey on mice.

I think the author is making a connection to the cartoons we've grown up with, we often saw that the mouse would be chased by a cat. I believe Art Spiegelman is showing us that mice are easy to be controlled by cats and can be put fear in easily.
